Simple Machines

Simple Machines are a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force. Some examples are the wedge, wheel and axle, and the inclined plane. I use simple machines in my every day life.

Wedge

Wedges are another simple machine. I use a wedge when I use a knife. I use a knife to cut food and open packages. Knifes are wedges because they cut or split.

Wheel and Axle

Another simple machine is the wheel and axle an example is a door knob, when you turn the door knob you turn the shaft it is connected to another wheel and then you open the door.

Inclined Plane

The last simple machine that I am going to talk about is the inclined plane. An example is a slide, gravity is the force so you can slide down.

These are just some of the simple machines I utilize. There are many more that people don’t realize such as the lever, pulley, and the screw.
