The Peloponnesian Wars
There were two Peloponnesian wars and the first one broke out in 459 BC between the Athens and Sparta. They all ready had some small conflicts over the years which made a lot of tension between them. This was a pretty equal fight because of Spartas land army was way better then Athens but the Athen naval army was way better then Spartas. This war lasted almost 30 years until they decided to make a peace treaty which was going fine up until the Athens broke it which caused a whole new war between them.
Since the Athens broke their side of the peace treaty this made Sparta extremely mad which caused the second Peloponnesian to brake out. In this war they both had their allies but in the end Sparta won and captured the Athens. There is still more to the story when Spartas allies were mad that they didn’t get any credit for helping Sparta take down the Athens so then another war happened with everyone including the Athens even though they were in a very weak position but still kept fighting with Sparta and for years and years they just kept fighting. Sparta did win and the Athens were completely done and all their power was gone because they were forced to submit to the Spartan government.
Queen Esther
Queen Esther was a Jewish woman who was chosen to be the queen to the Persian king Ahasuerus. Ahasuerus was looking for a new queen because his queen had refused to obey him, so Esther was chosen because of her looks. The story didn’t stop there when a man named Haman came along and he was a descendent of King Agag and he had a deep hatred for all Jews. So he asked Ahasuerus if he could wipe out a certain troublemaking race of people which Ahasuerus said yes to and didn’t think much of. When Esther heard about this she was scared and decided to tell Xerxes. Xerxes was considered a god in Persia and no one would ever just go to him. Well when she told him he was furious and ended up executing Haman and his family and also gave the Jews permission to fight back on the up coming day. Thankfully everyone was ok because of Esthers actions and a new feast called Purim was created.

Nehemiah was a Jewish cupbearer who lived in Babylon during the reign of Artaxerxes. At the time Jerusalem was in bad shape and it was destroyed, and when Nehemiah heard about this he was very upset. One day while Nehemiah was working the king noticed how upset he was and asked why, so Nehemiah told he and also asked if he could return to Jerusalem for a little just to help them rebuild. The king understood and said yes. When Nehemiah got too Jerusalem he had an idea to rebuild the wall and the city. His plan was that people would go back to where they lived in Jerusalem and build their part of wall and city so it was being built everywhere all at once. This idea worked beautifully and in 52 days they got the whole city built.
Archimedes
Archimedes was a Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer and inventor. He was born in 287 BC in Syracuse. Archimedes was considered the greatest mathematician of his time because of his love and curiosity to learn more about the world. He wasn’t like other astronomers or mathematicians who believed that the study science was more noble, but Archimedes thought that his inventions were just toys and fun experiments. The reason that Archimedes was interested in these things were because he was the son of a noble astronomer and grew up loving the sun and the moon along with a big fascination with big numbers. Around The World
For the past few weeks I have been reading a book called Around the World in 80 Days. The book is about a man and his servant trying to travel around the world in 80 days to win a bet that the man made with his friends. The man had his own route to go around the world so now I’m going to make mine.
If I were to go around the world here would be my route. First off the base for my route would be to go to one country in every continent. I would start out in North America in the US then travel by boat to Spain which is in Europe. Then I would travel from Spain to Russia which would count as my country for Asia. As for my last three continents I would go to Egypt then travel by boat to New Guinea which is in Australia and then travel across the Atlantic to South America where I would finish my travels in brazil.

Greek Art
Greek art began in the Cycladic and Minoan civilization, and it gave birth to Western classical art. This form of art is separated into mainly five forms: painting, pottery, sculpture, architecture and jewelry making. Greek art happens stand out because of its naturalistic idealized depictions of the human body, in which large nude male statues were the main focus. In Greek pottery they would use clay pots, jars and vases for almost everything. They were most likely to be painted with a religious or mythological scene. Much of our knowledge of Greek art comes from clay and stone sculptures that were made thousands of years ago and still survived. Greek architecture was pretty simple when they would make basic houses, but some people would put all of their money into a house and extreme detail would be put into the house and it would be painted and decorated beautifully.
