Thermostat

The thermostat is regulating device that senses the temperature of a physical system and makes sure the temperature is at the right setting. When the thermostat was invented in 1830 things changed because you didn’t need a fire to stay warm because all you had to do was turn a nob. Andrew Ure invented the thermostat because he wanted to help people who worked in factory’s because it can get very cold.

The Cash Register

The cash register is a money handling system that calculates transactions. The cash register was invented because small business owners just had a drawer to store money in which made it very easy to steal. When it was invented all most every business had one.

The Light Bulb

The light bulb is an electric globe that has a wire that glows when heated. The light bulb is one of the most popular inventions and is very important. Before light bulb one of the ways to see was using candles. The inventor is Thomas Edison and he was not only an inventor he was also a businessman.

Steam Turbine

The steam turbine is a device that extracts energy from pressurized steam and uses it to do mechanical work. The steam turbine is used on airplanes, ships, missiles, and so many other things. It is also used on generators to make electricity.

There are so many places to travel in the world but if I could only pick one it would be Hawaii and this is why.

If I could travel anywhere it would be Hawaii. I’ve always wanted to travel to Hawaii because of how pretty it is and how there are so many things to-do. It is a really big state so there is a lot to explore. There is also a ton of different fruits and foods. Another fun thing to visit is the volcanos. You could see how big they really are.

Thats why I would want to go to Hawaii out of any other place in the world.

Carpet Sweeper

The carpet sweeper is a mechanical device that cleans carpets. The inventor Melville Reuben Bissell invented the carpet sweeper in 1876 because his wife was tired of stains and dirt all over their carpet. Later on he ended up joining his father’s business in 1889 and then opened a grocery store.

Motion Pictures

Motion pictures are moving pictures of visual art also known as movies or films. Thomas Edison accomplished many things in his life time and one of them was inventing motion pictures. Later on he ended up making a couple of movies. Thomas Edison also did all of this by teaching him self.

Telephone

The telephone is an instrument used communicate with other people. Alexzander Graham Bell invented the telephone because while he was traveling his wife got sick and died but when he found out they had already had her funeral. He didn’t want any one else to experience that so he invented the telephone so people could communicate faster and easier.

Phonogragh

The phonograph was the first mechanical record player. Record players are still used today but are normally just for show. Now we have speakers and phones to play music with. When it was popular many people had because it was a way to play music.

Dental Drill

The dental drill is a hand held tool that is used to perform dental procedures. When the dental drill was invented it was super helpful. Before it was invented they used the hardware drill. People would dread going to the dentist because of how much pain they felt.

Fire Sprinkler

The fire sprinkler is a system that shoots out water when smoke or a fire is detected. The fire sprinkler is very important because it can save a building or house from burning down. The fire sprinkler is not common in houses but is in gyms, hotels, and other places. Its now required in almost all buildings.

Blue Jeans

Blue jeans also called jeans are a type of pants that are normally made out of denim. Blue jeans are one of the most common clothing items in the world. They also have different styles such as ripped jeans. When they were invented blue jeans were mainly used for cowboys.

QWERTY Keyboard

The QWERTY keyboard is a keyboard design for Latin script alphabets. The QWERTY keyboard is very common and there are many different design and colors. The Qwerty keyboard is used on computers and also some tablets.

A type of animal that I find fascinating is dinosaurs. I find interesting to know they roamed this earth 1000s of years ago. Theres also so many types. They are all different sizes and have different features. Now they only thing left of any dinosaur is bones. You can go to a museum and observe what their body used to look like.

Clothing Hanger

The clothing hanger is a plastic object used to keep clothes from getting wrinkled. When the clothing hanger was first invented in 1860 it was not as popular as it was today. The clothing hanger was not always made out of plastic because when it was invented it was made out of metal wire. The clothing hanger was invented by Albert Parkhouse.

Rotary Can Opener

The rotary can opener is a sharp cutting wheel that opens up the can. The can opener was a lot safer then opening up a can with a knife. It also saved people from going to the hospital which saved people money. Now people use the electric can opener.

Earmuffs

Earmuffs are a type of clothing accessories used to keep your ears warm or to protect your ears from loud sounds. Earmuffs are normally used in the winter or when it’s very cold. They are also used at gun ranges and other really loud places. Earmuffs come in different styles and sizes for different people.

The Mail Ordering Catalog

The mail ordering catalog is a catalog listing different stores and products. The mail ordering catalog became popular because it was mailed to peoples houses. It was also an easy way to find the stuff you need. By 1904 there was 3,000,000 people listed for the mail catalog list.

Pipe Wrench

The pipe wrench is a wrench designed to turn pipes of all shapes and sizes. The pipe wrench is not like a normal wrench because with the pipe wrench you can adjust it to the setting you need. The pipe wrench was first invented in Massachusetts.

The Tape Measure

The tape measure is a flexible ruler used to measure size or distance. There are two types of tape measures the first one is pretty flimsy and is normally in stored in a sewing kit. The second one is made out of metal and is normally used when building something. The tape measure is still used and has many purposes

The Traffic Light

The traffic light is a light signaling when to go or to stop. The traffic light is very important because without it people would drive into on going traffic. There are three colors on a traffic light. Red = Stop Yellow = Slow Down Green = Go The traffic light can also be called the traffic signal. It was first invented in Cleveland.

The Air Break

The air brake is a brake that creates friction and compresses air to stop. The brake was not only used on cars but it was also used on trains. Now air brakes are not common in modern cars but most big trucks do. In the 1970s when air brakes were first invented most people were told they were dangerous but over the years they became safer.

Something funny that happened to me was embarrassing myself in Target. The first time was when I started laughing and I fell in front of two people who were walking. The next time was when I was siting in the shopping cart and I leaned backwards and fell on all of the groceries.

The Typewriter II

The typewriter is a mechanical machine that is used to type and print out documents. This was a lot faster than hand writing documents. This was very helpful to authors because they could get their book published earlier then normal. William Austin Burt was an American inventor and scientist who invented the typewriter in 1792.

The Chuckwagon

The chuckwagon is a wagon that can provide food on long trips. The chuckwagon gets its name from the word chuck which means food. Some people also call the chuckwagon a kitchen on wheels. The chuck wagon was for the rich and for the poor in 1866.

Dynamite

Dynamite is an explosive made out of nitroglycerin, sorbents and stabilizers. A way dynamite is commonly used is in demolition. Dynamite was first invented in Northern Germany and traveled across the world. Alfred Nobel is a Swedish chemist and also invented dynamite in 1867.

Ticker Tape

Ticker tape is a strip of paper which messages are recorded on to a telegraphic tape machine. This was much faster than some one running back and forth which is what they used to deliver messages. This all started from the telegraph and if it was not for the telegraph they would have never had ticker tape.

The Cowboy Hat

The cowboy hat is a wide brimmed hat commonly worn in North America. The cowboy hat was not only just for fashion but they served a purpose as well. In places where rain was scarce the cowboy hat could catch the rain and people could drink it. The cowboy hat was invented in 1865 by John Batterson Stetson.

Roller Skates

Roller skates are shoes with wheels on the bottom so you can ride on smooth wood or another surface. Roller skates are normally used for fun or a way of transport. John Joseph Merlin invented roller skates in 1760. Now a little about the inventor, Merlin was a clock maker born in 1735 and ended up dying in 1803.

Barbed Wire

Barbed wire is a type of steel fencing with sharp edges or sharp points meant to protect property. Barbed wire is commonly used in prisons or jails so prisoners can’t escape. It was originally invented in America in 1867 but then traveled across the world. Joseph Glidden invented barbed wire but he was also a farmer and businessman

Pasteurization

Pasteurization is a sterilization process to keep milk or other products fresh. Now the pasteurization process is required before any milk gets put on store shelfs. Pasteurization is a long process that you can go and watch at a factory. The first time this process was ever used was in 1862.
